At first, when I heard this statement, I thought it presposterous. Who would bodybuild without exercises? Isnt workout the Holy Grail of bodybuilding. So when I found this article on this blog saying that one could gain muscle and actually bulk without necessarily having to go to the gym, I wanted to shout out or rather comment with agitation that the writer was a cheater.
It was only later that a friend showed me this academic study that reveals that one can actually bodybuild without necessarily having to exercise. The study was done to test whether supplements do work. In the study four groups of people were selected. There are those who were asked to do no exercises whatsoever and then there are also those asked to take bulking supplements.
At the end of the day, it was found that those who took supplements without workouts actually did bulk. Those who exercised and took supplements did of course bulk more than anybody else. That was really eye-opening. It underlined the importance of bulking supplements as well as good workouts since those with supplements and workout did bulk the most.
