The Diabetes Realization

I looked at the photo of the back of her hand and I saw burnt flesh; a large wound with exposed flesh and veins. I saw another photo of her that depicted her index finger in the beginning of Diabetes exposition. The index was swollen that the hand seemed electrocuted. Shivers ran throughout my body, followed by a multitude of thoughts. But the most vivid was, "Oh Lord! Flesh is really nothing. Well, it's something but something that's tender, delicate and fragile." A human body can be burnt by a flick of a small flame. It's too soft to last and can be easily broken. We know this but we mostly choose to ignore. Ultimately, we are forced to acknowledge this when the truth is staring at us right in the face.

The word "Diabetes," from a society perspective, means "Sugar Consumption." How shocking and perplexing was it to find out that this woman who had just had an operation - her index finger was surgically removed - had never consumed "Sugar!" I've never done any research about what causes Diabetes but at the end of that night, I had learned that it can be caused by too much sugar, low sugar or it can be just a result of blood that naturally contains sugar, and that the only way to prevent it is to do physical exercises.

Sports! Something that is never on my radar. I know how important Sports is but I just don't have time for it. Stupid, right? No, it's not really stupid. It's highly being irresponsible and careless. This man called Sports, some of us, maybe most of us, we ignore him throughout our lives until one day we wish that we could go back in time and neglect him less.

Sports is just a necessity for people who do not enjoy working out like athletes. Lesson learned! Sports is as essential as food to us. Remember the stinging of your stomach when you have forgotten to take your lunch? Yep! It's possible. You can be too busy or too stressed that you completely forget to have lunch until late in the afternoon when you start feeling weak, your head starts aching and your stomach starts biting you; slowly at first and cruelly later until you can't ignore it anymore. That's when you realize, "Oh my God! I forgot to have lunch!" You rush to have lunch because your body will not allow you to focus until you have given it what it wants. That's just how much we need Sports in our lives!
