Tanzania has passed regulations (in the Finance Act 2016) forcing all Network Services, Network Facilities and Application Service Licence holders to list at least 25% of their shareholding on the Dares Salaam Stock Exchange ('DSE'). The country has also passed regulations (Mining Minimum Shareholding and Public Offering) Regulations 2016 forcing Special Mining Licence holders to also list at least 30% of their shareholding on the DSE. The government cited greater tax compliance/transparency and the empowerment of Tanzanians to have a stake in two of its most lucrative industries.
