Authorities in the West African state of Burkina Faso have yet attempted another coup after having a failed one September 2015. It is alleged that this coup attempt was foiled by some loyalists of the former president, Blaise Compaoré in order to destabilise the country with the presidential palace as a main target and have him back in power. There is not much information regarding this coup but what can be noticed is a challenge to democracy because Campaoré first got into power through a coup and was president for about 27 years. And gaining this power back or even his loyalists will mean protection because the Burkina government has instituted criminal charges against him and there is an international warranty to arrest him.
In addition, the Minister of Interior had a statement earlier that the actors in the coup were planning to have a mutiny in the army barracks and starting a rebellion via social media.
