ACT 1 - SCENE 1
INT. PSYCHOLOGIST OFFICE- DAY
The atmosphere seemed relaxing as CECILE, an emotional traumatized, late 20s lady just lay back down with closed eyes in the sofa. Dr. Ayodeji, a stunning male psychologist in his mid-30s, smile soothingly.
We’re going back to the night of your birthday. What can you see around you?
(Chuckles). Loud music. Dancing. Drinks. And… (Deep frown).
(Curious). And?? And what next? Cecile? What can you see?
And… there’s… no!! (Snaps out gasping for breath…)
Having had to attend to patients like Cecile in his 15 years as a psychotherapist, Ayodeji knows better than forcefully making traumatized individuals go into a past- especially, one, they’d intentionally blocked from their memory- but this woman isn’t just one of his patients…
ACT 1 - SCENE 2
INT. UNDERWATER ESTATE HALLWAY - NIGHT
Ayodeji places a call from the car, whilst, Cecile was seated beside him, the driver closely shut out.
I have told your Cecile several times. Sir, She kisses every tom, nick, and harry and claim she’s not the one but the character in the act, plus, she’s refusing therapy, so, I decided to call you to talk sense into her or at least, convince her to accept full therapy session.
MR. EDMUND (O.S)
Ayodeji…Ayo… (suru la fin se).You called me to talk to your wife, Of course, I’m fully aware of your patience with her constant nightmares, and I’m grateful for your patience and effort to help her overcome her fears. Ayo, you should act married.
Uncle, before we got married, Deji, knows I’m an actress by profession and that automatically makes me a public figure, but now he wants me to quit my job, isn’t that too selfish of him? Plus, I appreciate his therapeutic help, but I’m not just ready, and if he’s continually going to bother me, I’ll suggest we part ways for some time!
(Mouth gasped). Can you hear her! Is it because, I’m pleading with you to undergo the full therapy session? Has it gotten to the point of threatening me with a divorce?
Uncle, don’t worry, we’ll settle it, and you know young couple… (Hangs the call).
Oh please, Deji! Spare me! Even I know, you’re tired of my inability to make love with you. All I’m asking for is time.
Okay… fine, if you don’t want to do it, then, forget about it. And why don’t you start investigating me.
ACT 1 – SCENE 3
INT. PSYCHOLOGIST OFFICE- DAY
(More coaxing). They’re both lying there. What happened to them?
They’ve been shot! By unknown masked men! I’m sure it’s a robbery gone wrong but I need to get help. But no one can because, their cells have been impounded. Thank God I had just gone to the back pavement to make a wish in the falling star... I’m making my way through the back door…. I have to go get help from our family doctor, I’m running desperately through the crossed tree path… its lonely, but- my parents… Bang!
(Inhales sharply). Did you just say; the crossed tree path? Cecile?
Yes! It’s him, blood! My parents are bleeding! I’m begging him to please help me save my parent. But he just keeps ravaging through my new dress…Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa! It hurts!
(Dr. Adedeji is sweating more profusely. He’s feeling sick to his stomach! She must be forced out of this hypnosis! Oh God! No! It can’t be! It couldn’t be her!
SOMEBODY! PLEASE! HELP! (She twisted vigorously as though, in a bid to escape)
It is now evident that he is her worst nightmare all these years. He is her demon! Its better living with the reality of her never fulfilling his urge than the truth about his PAST!
Cecile! You have to come back to the present! Now!
(Sobbing. Pale color). It is you…from... 20... Years… ago… AYODEJI!!!!!!! It’s been you all along… (Her shivering chilly scream echo past through the entire hospital)
Ayodeji just stay rooted… gazing at her, his head is ringing denial bell, - but- he isn’t running away from it anymore..!
(Feeling violated). Did you know it was you who stole my past, haunted my present, and is traumatizing my future? (Screaming) answer me! Did you?
(Jittering). No! Cecile! I swear to you- my love-
Hey! Don’t you ever dare refer to me as that…! I asked you if you are aware.
(Nervous). No! On my mother’s grave… I never knew! I was dead drunk from the funeral of my Mum that fateful night… I had just wandered away to go grieve…
And you just decided to mourn her by killing yet another woman that night? Now, I know the statute of limitations is expired but that divorce will be legalized in a wink, plus you helped me uncovered the truth about that day, so, I’ll let the truth go silent but trust me it’ll become the only silent noise you’ll live to hear deep down your soul.
